Enugu Rangers ended a 32-year wait for a league title, after they were confirmed champions on Sunday.

The Flying Antelopes hammered El-Kanemi Warriors 4-0 in their final fixture of the season on Sunday, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, with Chison Egbuchulam scoring a hat-trick.

It is Rangers seventh NPFL title and it brings them level with Oriental rivals, Enyimba.

Rivers United could only finish in second place, three points behind Rangers, despite their 2-1 victory over Akwa United in Uyo.

Abia Warriors ensured they will play in the topflight next season, with a hard-fought 2-1 home win over Shooting Stars; former champions Kano Pillars were held to a 1-1 draw by Niger Tornadoes and Wikki Tourists beat Sunshine Stars 2-0. Lobi Stars won 2-0 against Nasarawa United in Markudi.

MFM FC escaped relegation by defeating IfeanyiUbah FC at the Agege Stadium in Lagos 1-0.

Heartland have been relegated for the first time, following a 1-1 draw with Plateau United. Warri Wolves will also play in the Nigeria National League (NNL), despite a 1-0 win over Ikorodu United, who have been relegated before the last round of games.
