NPFL Match Day 3: Plateau United stay top, Rangers win

Plateau United remain stop of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), after the third round of fixtures, after they defeated 10-man Sunshine Stars 3-1 at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos on Sunday.

Benjamin Turbe opened scoring for the hosts, before Kabir Umar added a second with 20 minutes left. Emeka Umeh extended their lead, before Alaba Adeniyi grabbed a consolation goal for the Owena Waves.

It is Plateau United’s first win against Sunshine Stars in six meetings and they have now won all their games this season, to top the table with nine points.

Champions Enugu Rangers recorded their first win, with a 1-0 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors. Enyimba beat Gombe United 2-0 in Calabar, Kano Pillars fought from a goal down to defeat Shooting Stars 2-1 and Niger Tornadoes lost 1-0 to Rivers United at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt.

Stephen Odey scored the first hat-trick of this season as MFM FC hammered visiting Lobi Stars 4-0 at the Agege Stadium. ABS secured a 1-0 win over FC IfeanyiUbah and Wikki Tourists beat Akwa United 1-0 in Bauchi.

NPFL new boys, Remo Stars, earned their first win of the season seeing off Abia Warriors 1-0 in Shagamu.
