NPFL Match Day 29: MFM cut Plateau United lead at top, Rangers lose

MFM FC have cut Plateau United’s lead at the top to just two points, following their 1-0 win against Wikki Tourist on Sunday in Lagos.

Stephen Odey, who is the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) top scorer, grabbed the only goal of the encounter, taking his tally to 17.

Plateau suffered a setback in their quest to win the title, as they lost 1-0 away to Niger Tornadoes. Despite the defeat, they still remain on top of the NPFL table with 51 points.

Enyimba were beaten 1-0 by hosts FC IfeanyiUbah in the Oriental Derby played in Nnewi.

Akwa United have moved up to third place with 46 points, after thrashing Gombe United 3-0, El-Kanemi Warriors pipped Abia Warriors 1-0 and champions Enugu Rangers were defeated 2-0 by Kano Pillars in Kano.

In Ibadan, Shooting Stars gave their push for survival a big boost by beating Katsina United 1-0.

Nasarawa United got the only away win by seeing off Sunshine Stars 1-0 in Ijebu-Ode, Remo Stars’ relegation troubles deepened following their 3-2 loss away to Lobi and ABS were held to a 0-0 draw by Rivers United.
