MFM FC closed the gap between them and Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) leaders, Plateau United, after a 2-1 win over ABS at the Agege Stadium on Sunday.
Austine Ogunye opened scoring for the hosts from the spot in the 17th minute, before Sikiru Olatunbosun made it 2-0 in the 61st minute. Although Wasiu Alabi pulled one goal back, MFM held on for three points.
The victory means they now have 46 points in second place, just two behind behind Plateau
ABS have now lost 10 straight away games in the NPFL this season.
Plateau United lost 1-0 to El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri, while in Uyo, Enyimba’s slim title hopes received a setback as they went down 1-0 to Akwa United.
Shooting Stars beat Wikki Tourists 2-0 at home, Champions Enugu Rangers’ five-game unbeaten run came to an end, as they were defeated 3-1 by Lobi Stars.
FC IfeanyiUbah claimed a 2-0 victory over visiting Katsina United, Niger Tornadoes pipped Remo Stars 1-0, Abia Warriors lost 1-0 to Sunshine Stars in Ijebu-Ode, while Nasarawa United were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Gombe United.
