NPFL Match Day 24: Plateau thrash Gombe to stay top

Plateau United extended their lead at the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table, following their 5-1 home win against Gombe United.

Peter Eneji scored twice, while Elisha Gombe, Kabiru Umar and Emeka Umeh got a goal each for the Jos club. Gombe’s only goal was scored by Mannir Ubale in the 9th minute from the penalty spot.

Plateau are now on 45 points, five clear of second placed MFM FC of Lagos.

MFM beat Shooting Stars 1-0 at the Agege Stadium, dragging the away side to the bottom of the table.

Title contenders El Kanemi Warriors lost 3-0 away to Katsina United, while Enyimba defeated Abia Warriors 2-1 in the Oriental Derby.

FC IfeanyiUbah beat Rivers United 2-1, Enugu Rangers claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Akwa United in Enugu, Sunshine Stars lost 3-1 to Kano Pillars and Remo Stars moved out of the bottom spot to 19th, after beating Nasarawa United 1-0.

10-man Lobi lost 1-0 away to ABS of Ilorin, while Wikki Tourists overcame visiting Niger Tornadoes 3-1.
