NPFL Match Day 20: Plateau United, MFM held; Enyimba win as second stanza resumes

The second stanza of the 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) kicked off on Sunday across the country.

Table toppers Plateau United, failed to extend their lead after being held to a 1-1 draw at Katsina United.

The home team took an early lead in the 4th minute through Chinedu Udechukwu, but Plateau United equalised in the 59th minute thanks to Daniel Itodo.

Plateau however maintain their position at the top with 36 points, after MFM FC were held to a goalless draw at the Agege Stadium by 10-man Akwa United.

MFM had a great chance to take the lead in the 32nd minute, but NPFL top scorer Stephen Odey missed from the penalty spot.

MFM remain second on 34 points, two points off leaders Plateau United.

Shooting Stars were hammered 3-0 by FC IfeanyiUbah in Ibadan, while Enyimba won 1-0 at Remo Stars.

Champions Enugu Rangers needed a late winner to see off Gombe United 2-1, Wikki Tourist defeated visiting Abia Warriors 3-0, ABS pipped El Kanemi 2-1, while Sunshine Stars lost 1-0 at home to Lobi Stars.

At the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano Pillars beat Niger Tornadoes 1-0.
