NPFL Match Day 2: Plateau United beat Rivers United, Tornadoes go top

Niger Tornadoes are now top of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), after a thrilling 2-1 victory over FC Ifeanyi Ubah at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja on Wednesday.

Solomon James Owello opened scoring for the home side, before Godwin Obaje got his name on the scoresheet with the equalizer.

Sunday Akinmoladun’s goal turned out to be the match winner.

Tornadoes have six maximum points, same with Plateau United who beat Rivers United 2-0 in Jos. However, the Peace Boys have scored less goals.

Kano Pillars are third on the log, after a 2-0 win over Nasarawa United.

Lobi Stars beat Enugu Rangers 2-1 in Enugu, Sunshine Stars pipped Katsina United 2-1 and MFM FC claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Kwara United in Lagos.

Go-Round FC stunned Akwa United in Omoku to move to the 11th position with a 1-0 win, while Enyimba are yet to win this season following a 0-0 draw with Heartland FC in the Oriental Derby.

El-Kanemi defeated Abia Warriors 1-0 and Yobe Desert Stars saw off Wikki Tourists 2-0.
