Head coach of Kwara United, Tunde Abdulrahman, has insisted that relegation from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), is not a foregone conclusion.
Kwara United were defeated 1-0 by league leaders Enyimba in a Match Day 35 encounter, but Abdulrahman says they are not under pressure.
“We are not under any pressure. There is much to look forward to in the three remaining matches of this season. We have not lost hope and will not, till the very end. My boys displayed positive character against Enyimba and we almost got a good result,” he told npfl.ng
“Both teams gave a good account of themselves, but Enyimba took their chance and eventually won. We need some element of luck in our remaining three games.”
Abdulrahman also blamed injuries and the fixture list, for their struggles this season after a fine start.
“We started the season very well, but injuries and the tight schedule we experienced in the first round really worked against us. In addition, the long break we had during the 2015 general elections also led to loss of concentration,” he claimed.
“These factors were crucial and affected our plans for the season.”
The Ilorin club are currently 18th on the log with 36 points, four behind 17th placed Dolphins.
