Enyimba forward, Mfon Udoh, has admitted that his team’s bid to retain their Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title, is over.
The People’s Elephant were held to a 0-0 draw by MFM FC in a Match Day 36 clash played at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
Udoh says Enyimba will not focus on picking a ticket, to represent the country on the continent next season and trying to win the Federation Cup.
“Definitely, the hope of defending our league crown is over with the goalless draw against MFM FC,” he told SuperSport.
“We are in the last four in the Federation Cup so we are shifting our whole attention on winning any silver ware to the Cup competition.
“We entered the race with three competitions. Two are lost, so if we win the Cup title that will be a huge plus for us.
“The goalless draw against MFM FC is nothing unusual, but one of those results in football.
“It has not been easy with us prosecuting the whole three competitions within a season.
“It’s really tough and people need to appreciate what we go through to honour these matches.
“MFM FC were not spectacular on matchday. We gave it our best and the outcome is draw. We have nothing to complain but concentrate on finishing well the remaining two, three matches.
“The race for the title defence has ended unsuccessfully. We thank God for everything but hopeful to win the Federation Cup.”
Enyimba now sit in 7th place, with 50 points, seven behind leaders Enugu Rangers.
