Head coach of Sunshine Stars, Austin Eguavoen, has queried the officiating in his side’s 1-0 defeat to Shooting Stars in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) fixture at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.
Sunshine suffered their 11th defeat of the season, thanks to Ibrahim Ajani’s 8th minute minute.
“It was a good game but we lost. We scored a goal but the referee overruled, it I don’t know why,” Eguavoen told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“These things do happen in football and he (the referee) has the final say. We shall work harder.
“The officiating was poor and unfair, it was the major reason we lost.”
Eguavoen however insisted that his target, is to keep Sunshine Stars in the NPFL ahead of next season.
“We have to get back to winning ways in our next home game and hopefully nick some points away from home to stay up at the end of the season,” he added.
Sunshine Stars dropped to 17th in the NPFL log with 27 points from 22 games.
