NPFL: Bala vows to fix Niger Tornadoes’ defensive problems

Head coach of Niger Tornadoes, Abubakar Bala, has vowed to work on his team’s defensive problems and mental toughness, following their 2-1 defeat at Shooting Stars last weekend.

Faleye put the hosts ahead, before Ammeh Wilfred equalized for Tornadoes. Asiri Emmanuel eventually clinched a late winner for Fatai Amoo’s side at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

Bala lamented his side’s wastefulness in front of goal, but insists they will correct those mistakes beginning with the clash against Kano Pillars in Lokoja.

“We gave everything but I’m disappointed in our result against Shooting Stars,” Bala told Goal.

“We have so many chances to score in the first half but we could not utilize them. We fought to get back into the game if we had scored from those chances. It would have been a different story.

“I have to correct the situation where we concede late goals, this is becoming a tradition. I will have to fix it.

“We conceded at home against Sunshine Stars and also did same with Lobi Stars. I have to find a solution to this problem.”
