MFM FC forward, Chidi Akunoto has revealed that a strong mentality and team spirit are the reasons for their good start to the new season.
The Olukoya Boys claimed their second win of the campaign, after beating Sunshine Stars 2-1 on Wednesday. The result ensured they are joint top with leaders, Lobi Stars.
Akunoto says they forged their mentality from last season, as they pushed for promotion to the top flight.
He told Goal: “I think we’ve carried that on from last season. There was a mentality when we had to win games. We had to get that promotion ticket.
“We’ve carried that on into this season so far. We seem to play really well away from home and hopefully we can take that form into the home games as well.
“We all get on really well here. We’ve got a great set of lads and we’ve been together for two or three years now, most of us. We’re starting to build a real friendship and I think that’s shown on the pitch.”
MFM takes on Ikorodu United in a local derby on Sunday at the Onikan Stadium.
