NPFL 2019: Yobe Stars on the verge of relegation after losing to Akwa Utd

The Nigerian Premier League side, Yobe Desert Stars football Club Damaturu are on the verge of sliding into relegation following a 0-1 lose to Akwa United today, Sunday evening in Uyo.

The Desert Machine who are sitting at the bottom of Group ‘B’ abridgement table of the Nigerian Professional Football League with just 15 points after playing 19 games.

The Damaturu based club has not been finding it easy in the Nigerian Professional Football League 2018/2019 season despite the sacking of its former Technical Adviser Ngozi Elechi over poor performance in March.

The subsequent appointment of Taye Yusuf as the new Technical Adviser for the club has not changed the fortune of the side as they have continued to lose both at home and away.

As three matches are left before the season comes to an end, Yobe Stars hope to play two home games and one away with a strong anticipation of winning them all.

It was observed that, even if the Desert Machine won the remaining three matches, going to relegation is sacrosanct considering that the anticipated points may not elevate the club’s current status.

Yobe Desert Stars, Gombe United, Abia Worriors and Go-Round are the last four of the group ‘B’ table, while Reno Stars, Niger Tornadoes, Kwara United and Wikki Tourist are the bottom of group ‘A’ table.
