After 25 weeks of play in the Nigeria Professional Football League, table toppers-Plateau Utd Football Club of Jos on Tuesday said it was optimistic of finishing at the summit of the table at the end of the ongoing season.
The optimism is coming ahead of the team’s forthcoming encounter with neighbours Nasarawa United FC of Lafia in a match day 26 fixture, slated for the Rwang Pam Township Stadium, Jos tomorrow (Wednesday).
The Management of the club stated this in a press statement, signed by its Media Officer, Albert Dakup, and made available to Sports journalists in Jos.
It reads, “We are very optimistic of our chances of winning the Nigeria Professional Football League title at the end of the season.
The statement noted that the boys are fully focus ahead of the remaining matches.
The Lalong boys who are topping the league table with 45 points from 25 matches, are 5 points clear of their closest challengers, El-kanemi Warriors FC of Maiduguri.
“As champions in the waiting, we are battle ready for the remaining matches irrespective of home or away in our quest to do the government and people of Plateau State proud by winning the league title for the first time in the history of the State.
“From the management, technical crew, players and other supporting staff, everybody is doing his beat to ensure that we achieve that objective.
“The support from the State especially in the prompt payment of salaries and other entitlements of the players has been regular and everybody in the team is poised to replicate that as a sign of appreciation to the Governor Simon Lalong led Rescue Administration on the Plateau.
The statement further noted that, as the team brace up for the challenge posed by Nasarawa United FC, which is usually a local derby, the team is eyeing nothing less than the 3 maximum points as they plot a convincing victory at the end of the match.
