A notorious Benue armed robber who goes by the name Chemical, has been killed by the Police during a gun battle in an attempt to apprehend him and members of his gang.
Chemical, the gang leader, reportedly died in the course of the shootout. Some were arrested unhurt, while others are still struggling with bullet wounds.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ezeani who confirmed the incident, disclosed that his men, acting on a tip-off, trailed the notorious gang to their hideout and engaged them in a gun duel.
DAILY POST gathered that about 10 other suspects in his gang were arrested. The arrest as we learnt was carried out on Tuesday, 5th of August.
It will be recalled that an armed gang riding on motorcycles, last weekend, stormed a supermarket in Zaki- Biam, and spread bullets on people, killing 8, leaving several others injured.

The leader of the gang, Chemical, died in the shootout. A few others were arrested, some unhurt, and others struggling with bullet wounds. ASP Daniel said in the course of the action, some other gang members escaped into the bush and were still being trailed by the men of the force.
It was also learnt that the deceased and his members were said to be among those that had been causing mayhem on the people of Sankera geo-political axis of the state.
ASP Daniel added that those who escaped would soon be apprehended and brought to book as his men are working tirelessly, whereas, those arrested were being investigated and would be charged to court soon.
