Northern Youths have vowed to draft in members of the defunct Strike Force, National Guards as Tambuwal’s security details.

Consequently, the Federal Government has been given seven days within which to restore the security details withdrawn from the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

This ultimatum was handed down by the Northern Youths Leaders Forum, NYLF in Yola, the Adamawa State capital on Sunday.

The National Chairman of the forum, Comrade Eliot Afiyo said if the Federal Government and its security agencies fail to restore Tambuwal’s security aides, they would be forced to carry out their decision to employ the services of former members of the National Guard and former National Strike force.

Afiyo, who said he was in Yola to assess the level of damage caused by the Boko Haram insurgents, added that many of his members were displaced by the insurgents.

He bemoaned the activities of the insurgents in the Northeast, especially Mubi, urging the Federal Government to own up to its duty of protecting the lives and property of the citizenry.

Afiyo said their concern about the withdrawal of Tambuwal’s security details was not because of the person, but the office, saying government’s action was a disrespect to the office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Tambuwal’s position as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, should not be undermined if at all there was no grand design to ridicule his person as punishment for dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressive Congress (APC),” he said.

“My boys have been calling that we should allow them give the Speaker security should the federal government fail to restore the security aides of the speaker in accordance with the court order.

“These boys are well trained, they were trained during Abacha’s regime as members of National Guards and National Strike Force and I know they can do the job very well but we don’t need to take the laws into our hands, that is why we are calling on the federal government not to give us the reason to do so,” Afiyo said.
