Northern youths host summit to transform region’s economy

A northern group, the Arewa Consultative Forum Youth Congress, ACFYC, has vowed to transform the economy of the North through an innovative mindset that will positively impact on the lives of youths in that part of the country. This was as it hosted a summit to address the current economic and security realities of the region.

President of the group, Mr. Balami Isaac David, made this known at the summit titled: “activating prosperity through inclusive security and economic empowerment; connecting the northern Nigerian dream through bold, new thinking for inclusive growth and national posterity”.

Balami, while admonishing youths from across the 19 Northern states to see the summit as a bold new dream, said: “This summit is aptly titled to capture the current economic and security realities of the Northern Nigeria and social progressive deficit ravaging communities of Northern Nigeria in the face of growing insurgency.

“This event is designed for Northern Nigerian youths to stand together and pull up their sleeves of possibilities to take the free responsibilities to write the first few pages of the New Northern Nigerian dream that must begin here. This is because we must as a primary imperative; connect the northern Nigerian dream through bold new thinking as the first step towards Inclusive growth to jump start the Northern Nigeria posterity.”

He further pointed out that “60% of the most agro-arable lands in the world is in Africa and the northern Nigeria controls over 15% of that which goes without saying that the North can jump start a global driven agro-economy to feed Nigeria, Africa and the world at large. A golden opportunity to create the next 10m Northern agronomists to generate over 50 million Jobs in Nigeria, creating an agro-commodity corridor that would strengthen our foreign exchange markets and inspire over $1 in agro-value –chain investments.”

“This summit calls for a bold new vision to mobilize a Northern Nigeria agenda beyond the borders of insecurity across Northern communities,” the ACFYC President asserted.
