Northern youths berate Yakasai over remark on NEF

Arewa Youth Development Foundation, AYDF, has berated Alhaji Tanko Yakasai over his alleged recent unguarded remarks on the visit of the Northern Elders Forum to the Kano Government House calling for more unity and peace in the country.

Reacting to the remarks, Spokesperson of AYDF, Aminu Adam, said Nigerians have since stopped taking Yakasai seriously after his scandalous involvement in several political frauds.

Dismissing the remark on the Northern Elders, Adam said Yakasai had lately vainly become desperate to assert his long lost relevance in the affairs of the Northern region.

“With each attempt, the lies, the coverups, the posturing, the two-faced hypocrisy, tend to surface,” the spokesperson explained.

He described Yakasai’s criticism of the Northern Elders as the words of a spent political mercenary who has lost every shade of credibility and relevance, saying the old man is frustrated with the Buhari administration now that the easy money with which to betrayed his people is no longer there.

Adam frowned at the way Yakasai attempted to demean the defunct Northern People’s Congress, a party under which credible personalities such as the Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello and Alhaji Tarawa Balewa served the Northern region and Nigeria diligently and selflessly during the first republic politics.

He said Yakasai’s claim to being a progressive was all his usual lies as he has never been so since the time of Aminu Kano’s NEPU in the first republic.

During the second republic, he said, Yakasai pitched tent with the conservative National Party of Nigeria where as Presidential adviser on National Assembly matters, he misled the then-president Shehu Shagari and was ultimately arrested and detained on corruption charges.

“Yakasai’s open attack on the NPC is therefore an implied admission of involvement in the conspiracy that violently ended the second republic and with it, the lives of those reputable northern leaders who put in all they had in ensuring the unity and collective progress of the North and Nigeria.

“His blind obsession with amassing unlawful wealth over the years has stripped him of every claim to personal integrity which is about consistency of moral character, honesty, and truthfulness.

“Yakasai has over time failed to demonstrate any sign of remaining integrity by failing to hold fast to all the principles of ethical conduct and also failed to act consistently and truthfully within the professed ethical standards of the cultured North.

“Maintaining and demonstrating integrity in all matters has become very difficult for Tanko Yakasai; he therefore has lost the right to reclaim his tarnished statesmanship and stands discredited and incompetent to make any remarks with regards to northern interest,” he said.

The AYDF leader then called on all northerners, federal and state governments to discountenance any comment by Yakasai and treat it as the lone voice of a frustrated and desperate spent force that carries no weight.
