Northern Group calls Obasanjo a ‘motor park tout’

A Non-Governmental Group in the northern part of Nigeria identified as the Northern Emancipation Network, yesterday called former President, Olusegun Obasanjo a motor park tout for publicly tearing his PDP membership card, adding that the singular act did not show a quality expected of an elderly statesman.

According to the group, the action by the former President is terrible and not expected from somebody of his calibre.

It will be recalled that Obasanjo earlier in the week, publicly ordered the PDP Chairman in his ward to tear his membership card, after which he said he was no longer a politician, but a statesman.

However, the group in a release signed by its national leader, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman said that the former President only exhibited behaviour that can only be ascribed to a motor park tout.

Suleiman said, “As a direct beneficiary of the opportunity offered by the People’s Democratic Party, Mr. Obasanjo ought to have respected the sanctity of the party’s membership card.”

The group national leader appealed to the public not to consider Mr. Obasanjo as a role model but an enemy of the nation.

“The nation should note that Obasanjo is only pursuing a personal dangerous agenda for the setting up of an Interim National Government,” the group said.
