North London Derby: Arsenal put 10-man Spurs to the sword

Arsenal defeated fierce rivals, Tottenham Hotspurs 5-1, just like they did last year. Although it wasn’t exactly the same routine all over, this North London derby, did not lack drama.

The visitors were ahead in the 10th minute, after Arsenal failed to deal with Defoe’s rebound and Adebayor clipped the ball past Szczesny. Seven minutes later, the Togolese striker turned the game around, after he wassent off for a wild tackle on Santi Cazorla.

From then on, the Gunners went on rampage. Walcott crossed for Mertesacker to power in the equaliser and Podolski put the home team ahead, after his shot bounced off Gallas. Olivier Giroud made the scoreline more emphatic before half-time, after he thumped in Cazorla’s cross.

Cazorla, who was at his sparkling best, then grabbed the fourth goal for his team, tucking away Podolski’s cross. Bale pulled one back, after Arsenal’s defence allowed him a free run, but his former Southampton team mate, Walcott, scored a fifth, as Arsenal got back to winning ways.
