A staff of the Ekiti State Office of the National Orientation Agency, Mr. Tunde Falope, is down with a chronic kidney disease and needs N7.142m for immediate kidney transplant as an alternative way to stay alive.
To make his situation worse, Falope’s wife has since disappeared from their matrimonial home with his three children, leaving the man alone in the hapless situation.
Falope’s pathetic experience started seven years ago when he started manifesting sign of protruding belly. Diagnostic steps confirmed that he was suffering from Stage Three of Renal Disorder.
He is currently on weekly dialysis, which costs a sum of N56, 000 and a sucrose injection daily, at a cost of N1,500 at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital Ado Ekiti, where he had stayed for the past one year.
Falope’s Medical report from EKSUTH and signed by a Consultant Nephrologist, Dr O. Aremu, indicated that he is currently being managed for End-Stage-Renal Disease.
The cost estimate of the above listed treatment is indicated below: Twice weekly haemodialysis per dose(N56,000), EPO Injection(N12,000), Iron Sucrose Injection(N3,000), anti-hypertensive medication per month(N20,000), Preparation and creation of AV fistula(N50,000), regular routine treatment per month(N17,000) , and kidney Transplant (N7,000,000).
“He is on dialysis which is gross suboptimal due to financial constraint. The patient will bounce back to life with regular dialysis and kidney transplantation”, Dr. Aremu said.
Falope, who can no longer walk around due to protruding stomach and swollen feet, appealed to the members of the society to help him in raising the money for kidney transplant.
“This operation can be performed in Nigeria or abroad. But how do I raise the money? I hardly could cope financially with ordinary routine treatment in EKSUTH. I appeal to Nigerians to save my life from being cut at prime”.
Due to this development, the NOA’s State Director in Ekiti, Mr Dayo Famosaya, had in a letter dated 12th January, 2017, appealed to the members of the public to help the victim.
“Mr Williams Tunde Falope’s situation is becoming miserable and pitiable as he could not meet his daily obligations at home and elsewhere. For instance, the landlord has threatened to eject him for non-payment of house rent while his wife has left him, eloping with his two kids.
“To worsen the situation, the dialysis machines in EKSUTH and that of Ondo are not functional for some time now. His situation has now worsened due to inability to undergo dialysis in the last two weeks”, he disclosed.
