No scholarship, no voting for El-Rufai – Kaduna students

Kaduna state indigenes schooling in various higher institutions across the country have vowed to voted out governor El-Rufai in the coming elections if their bursaries are not paid.

Staging a peaceful protest in Kaduna, the students said they were demanding the payment of their bursaries as schools have resumed, so they can pay their school fees.

Leaders of the group, Comrade Jeremiah Tisan Gwaza, said that the state government has already approved the payment of all scholarship bursaries to students following the press conference by the Secretary-General of National Association of Kaduna State Students ( NAKASS ) on October 11, 2018 but lamented that till date, nothing has been given to them.

Gwaza then appealed to Governor Nasir El Rufai to come to the aid of the students and ensure that the students get their payments.

Comrade Suraj Sanusi Abubakar, one of the leaders of the group, told newsmen that the protest was not under the banner of NAKASS since student union body has been politicized.

He added that they were representing all students of Kaduna State irrespective of any group.

Comrade Suraj further asserted that if the government do not meet their demands before Friday, 1 February 2019 , the students would embark on massive protest across the state.

“lf by Friday, we do not see or hear anything, we will mobilize students from all the states of the federation and converge in Kaduna with no scholarship, no vote for Nasir El Rufai,” Suraj added.

The students reiterated that they were not sponsored by any political party but that their actions were motivated by the inability of the state government to pay scholarships to the students for four years.
