The Deputy Comptroller of Badagry Meduim Prisons, Mr Oye Famoyegun, on Friday debunked reports alleging that some prisoners escaped from a bus conveying them from Badagry to a court in Lagos.

Famoyegun, while admitting that a vehicle conveying some prisoners to court in Lagos was involved in an accident, said it was not an escape attempt as earlier purported.

Speaking with newsmen in Lagos, the Deputy Comptroller said the incident happened around Mile 2 in Amuwo Odofin Local Government area of the state.

According to him, “The driver conveying the prisoners was at fault because he rammed into a students union vehicle so there was an accident with about seven casualties recorded.

“There was nothing like prison break or attempt by prisoners to escape.

” It was not an escape attempt as reported in some quarters, but an accident, however, the situation has been brought under control and that the casualties are responding to treatment in hospital,” Famoyegun noted.
