No plans to sack civil servants – Mimiko

Ondo State governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has stated that the state would not retrench its workers despite nationwide harsh economic situation.

His affirmation was contrary to the expectation of the stakeholders in the state who believed that there would be massive disengagement of workers in 2016 to enable the state meet up with the prevailing financial challenges.

Mimiko, who addressed the workers at the government secretariat in Akure, the state capital, said the state would find alternative means to boost its revenue instead of reducing the number of workers.

He said “I can assure you that I will not retrench workers in the year 2016 despite the economic meltdown as a result of the fall in the price of crude oil worldwide.”

He, however, charged the workers to be more diligent.

The governor said, “You must be creative to add value to the system. The year 2016 is the year to truly diversify the nation’s economy in order to survive this critical time of economic meltdown.”

He also warned the workers against indolence and charged them to engage in agriculture so as to augment their monthly income.
