No grudges between Igbo, Hausa people in Kano – Emir Sanusi

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II has declared that there is a cordial relationship between Igbos and Hausas in Kano state, adding that the Hausas have for decades been accommodating the Igbos without grudges, animosity and rancour.

The Emir went on to note that the alleged misunderstandings, animosity and rancour that have come between the Hausa and Igbos were caused by ‘rabble-rousers’

He said the Hausa communities in Kano have no grudge against Igbo residents in the state.

Sanusi said this when he hosted members of the Abia state Council of Chiefs on Monday, led by its chairman, Ebere Chidik at his palace, NAN reports.

He said: “The Hausa have for decades been accommodating the Igbos without grudge, animosity and rancour.

“The time has come for both parties to comprehend the peculiar interest of each other and there was no justifiable premise for the two Communities to begrudge one another.”

He said: “The Igbos are fully embraced and treated with kid gloves in virtually all spheres of human endeavour.

“If there was animosity and rancour from their host community, they (Igbos) would have found it very difficult to co-exist cordially.”

Speaking earlier, Abia state Council of Chiefs, Ebere Chidik said they were at the palace to pay a special homage to the Emir.

He said the delegation was also in the state to express their gratitude and appreciation to the Emir for his effort in dousing tension and resolving crisis between the Hausa community and the Igbos residing in the state.

Just recently, an elderly woman was murdered in Kano for making an unguarded statement which was termed as blasphemy.

The woman named Bridget Agbaheme was stoned to death after she allegedly told Muslims not to perform abolition at a certain spot.

Mrs. Bridget, who until her death was a member of the Deeper Life Church, was said to have defamed the name of the holy prophet.
