The endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan by Accord Party, AP, has been described as non-negotiable.
This was disclosed by a former chairman of WEMABOD,
, who was until recently a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC before defecting to Accord Party, while speaking with journalists shortly after addressing a student group at a rally to drum up support for the reelection of President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to him, AP decided to adopt President Jonathan because the party does not have a presidential candidate of its own.
He said: “I have no problem identifying with the aspiration of AP in seeing to the re-election of President Jonathan in view of what he had done in the past four years in office”, adding that the reelection of Jonathan means continuity of the good works embarked upon by him.
Continuing, Adewusi said the change being clamored by APC will only drag the country back, noting that the report of the National Conference, midwifed by the government of President Jonathan, would be jettisoned should the opposition take over.
He urged the students to guide against being used by desperate politicians with inordinate ambition to rule the country at all cost, adding that they should be steadfast and committed to good electoral process, which would give everybody a level-playing field.
“Go home from here and sensitise your parents and guardians on the good works of President Jonathan and the need for him to return come 29th May this year for the good of this country.
“Those among you that are yet to collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards, PVCs, please go and do so, impress it on your parents too to do so if they have not and on no account should you trade your cards off; they are very important and remain the only weapon to ensure that we save this country from economic vampires,” Adewusi added.
