Former member of the Federal House of Representatives, and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Honorable Stanley Ohajuruka, on Monday, said there was no faction in Abia state leadership of the APC as insinuated in some quarters.
Ohajuruka was speaking to newsmen in Umuahia, the Abia state capital on Monday, against the backdrop of the Abia High Court order which sacked the state executive members of the All Progressives Congress ( APC ) led by Hon Donatus Nwankpa.
He said,”There is no faction in Abia APC. Rather, there was an attempt by a small group of individuals who were requesting for harmonization and in line with individual interest.
“And we made it clear to them that there is no place in the constitution of APC, that prescribes the sharing of positions to individuals. We are in a democracy. And for you to hold any position in APC, you are expected to go to your various wards, indicate your interest and contest positions you desire to hold and members of the party will decide”.
“APC is not a personal property of any individual. And the founding members of APC, founded the party on the basis of democracy. Where people are free to make a choice and decide whom to lead them”.
“There is no constitutional provision that reserves positions based on the interest of individuals. No individual or group of individuals can play God when it concerns APC”.
He urged members of the party in the state to remain steadfast and work collectively for the success of the party in the forthcoming 2019 general elections in the state.
