No curfew in Zamfara – Police

The Zamfara State police command has debunked a report published by a daily newspaper (not DAILY POST) that the command has imposed down to dusk curfew in the state following persistent killings and kidnappings.

In an exclusive interview with DAILY POST in Gusau, the state capital, the Police Public RelastionOfficerr(PPRO) SP Moh ,Qolllammed Shehu said the reporter misquoted the police authority.

According to him, the police said that the ban on motorcycles and tricycles was restriction of movement as from 6 pm to 7 am on a daily basis.

Speaking further, the police spokesman noted that security investigation carried out by the state police command revealed that the armed bandits usually operate with motorcycles and tricycles.

Speaking on the news of the curfew, he said it was concocted by the writer and not from the police authority.

It could be recalled that on Wednesday, the state commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Bello Dankande Gamji made it very clear that the state government still insists on the 7pm_ 7am ban placed on motorcycles and tricycles riders in the state due to the insecurity situation in the state since 2011.

It was also gathered that the state commissioner of police was at the meeting but did not correct the statement by the local government boss.

However, investigation carried out by DAILY POST revealed that the armed bandits are still using motorcycles and tricycles for their nefarious and unholy activities in the state as innocent citizens are being killed and kidnapped everyday.
