Ibe Kachikwu
Nigeria’s minister of state for petroleum, Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, will soon meet oil unions over their threat to ground the oil industry following the unbundling of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.
Kachikwu who is also the Group Managing Director of NNPC, expressed his concern on Wednesday, explaining that what the state oil company did was “reorganization,” a restructuring that will see it split into five divisions.
“We are going to have a meeting with them right now. I don’t want the industry shut down – I am going now to resolve the issues very soon,” Kachikwu told Reuters.
An NNPC source confirmed the planned meeting to DAILY POST Wednesday afternoon.
“Not sure of time of meeting but will inform you when I get the information.”
