The Northern Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has bemoaned the rate of lopsidedness in political appointments and the secret recruitment of children of elites into lucrative agencies of government.
President of NYCN, Comrade Isa Abubakar, who made the remarks at a media briefing in Abuja, said that the children of the poor and masses were not favoured in employment into public service.
He said: “As young people of Northern extraction, we are aware that unemployment is a global problem, but it is a very sad commentary that only the children of the elite always secured lucrative jobs and employment slots with government agencies
“We are living witnesses to those that were illegally or secretly recruited into the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC), Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) among others while the children of the poor are always being console with N-Power job and with the slogan called “Change Begin with you” and we say we want to end corruption and insurgency.
“We in NYCN believe that illegal and secret recruitments into public service at all levels are also corrupt practices which should be addressed and stopped. There is an urgent need for the present crop of Nigerian leaders and aspiring leaders in all human enterprise to start realizing the dreams of the founding fathers of Nigeria, while also dreaming new dreams to advance the progressive course of humanity.
“A society can be moved to greater heights and higher ideas only by the numbers and strength of dreamers, thinkers and doers available to it. Giving expression to these dreams requires a continuous dose of patriotism, selflessness, determination and courage to trudge on against all odd.”
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) is an umbrella body which represents young people in Northern Nigeria.

The Publisher of PRNigeria, Mr. Yushau Shuaib was also honoured at the occasion with Award of Excellence on Humanitarian Services and Youths Development.
