The NMA President, whose letter was read by the Plateau State Chairman of the Association, Dr. Daniel Menshak at the Plateau State Assembly complex, explained that when implemented, the National Health Act is capable of turning around a better healthcare delivery to the citizenry.

It reads, “We wish to remind you that the National Health Act was signed into law since 2014, and as at today there is no concrete structure on ground to start its implementation.

“NMA wishes to draw the attention of Mr. President that the provisions in the Act are capable of transforming the healthcare delivery system in the country in line with the change agenda of the current regime.

“As you are aware, the National Health Act was enacted in 2014 with provisions that have the potentials to turn around the fortune of the hitherto bastardized heath sector.”

Responding, the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Peter Azi, assured the doctors of the support of the legislature in ensuring that their agitations are heard by the executive.

“We are in full support of your agitations, Nigerians needs better health care, particularly the aged, women and children, therefore your agitations will be taken serious,” he said.

In an earlier remarks, the Chairman of the House Committee on Health in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Simon Kudu, assured the Nigeria Medical Association that their agitations will be attended to as a matter of public importance.
