NLC, TUC in Kaduna State remain resolute despite intimidation

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, Kaduna State chapters, say they will continue to demand for the right of workers regardless of blackmail and intimidation in the state.

In a press statement on Thusday in Kauna, signed by the NLC chairman Comrade Adamu Ango, and the TUC chairman, Comrade Shehu Mohd, they said no amount of campaing of calumny from any quarter would deter the leadership of the unions from demanding for their rights and the rights of workers in the state.

According to the statement, the demand for workers during the verification exercise, indicating their choice to belong to the union or not was tantamount to an infringement on their fundamental human rights.

They maintained that union membership was a constitutional issue, which was above the jurisdiction of any state government, saying that labour unions would resist any attempt to polarize and create disharmony among their members.

They advised workers in the state to remain resolute and be law abiding, while conducting their duties as expected of them in the state.

They also urged the state governemnt to publish the names of those workers aiding and abeting ghost workers in the state and make same available to the NLC and the TUC Kaduna State councils for necessary action.
