Edo State governor Adams Oshiomhole has expressed disappointment with leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), saying that the union no longer have credibility.

Oshiomhole, a former president of the NLC stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to the leadership of the NLC in Abuja.

He said most Nigerians have the belief that the NLC had gone to sleep in the last eight years.

He challenged the NLC to set economic agenda for the incoming government to protect the interest of Nigerian workers.

He said the NLC must also dialogue with outgoing governors who are owing their workers salaries to ensure that all unpaid salaries are paid to workers before they handover.

On the NLC election, he said there is need for the union to put its house in order so as to work in unison in the interest of workers. He said labour activists should not behave like politicians who will do anything to get power.

He said the election that brought in Ayuba Wabba as NLC president was credible, free and fair.

In his remarks the NLC president, Ayuba Wabba, said the NLC was working hard to regain the confidence of workers.

He said, “I am convinced that there is need to regain the confidence of our members and employers”.
