Nkiru Sylvanus: “Turn away from kidnapping and join Nollywood” – AGN begs kidnappers

Members of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Southeast Zone, have called on the captors of Nollywood actress and Special Assistant to Imo State Governor on Public Affairs, Nkiru Sylvanus to release her.

They also advised the daredevil kidnappers to join the creative industry instead of abducting innocent citizens.

The embittered actors, led by its National Vice President, Southeast, Barrister Ikechukwu Ezenagu stormed the entrance of Government House displaying placards carrying different inscriptions such as, “Southeast Governors, give Nollywood actors security,” “Insecurity is the bane of investment in the Southeast,” “Turn away from kidnapping and join Nollywood, “kidnapers, we are not politicians” and among others.

The group also pleaded with the Rochas Okorocha’s led government in Imo State to hasten up in order to get the weeping actress released.

Meanwhile, the police in Imo yesterday said it has arrested 16 suspects in connection with the abduction of Nollywood actress and a Special Assistant to the State Governor on Public Affairs, Nkiru Sylvanus.

According to the state police spokesman, Mr. Vitalis Onugu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, the suspects were apprehended when his men raided some suspected kidnappers’ dens in a forest.

He disclosed that the suspects are already cooperating the police in its investigation.

The actress, turned politician was reportedly abducted on Sunday, December 16, 2012, at about 2.30 p.m., in Owerri, Imo State capital.

She was kidnapped alongside her personal assistant. a former Mr. Nigeria, Kenneth Okolie.
