Nkire mandated to wage war against Southeast in 2019 – Abia APC

The Emmanuel Ndukwe-led faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia state, Monday, has said it has been vindicated on its earlier position, that the Donatus Nwankpa-led group is being sponsored by the Abia government to destabilize the party ahead of 2019 general election.

The Ndukwe leadership frowned at the recent realignment of a member of the party’s Board of Trustees, Chief Sam Nkire with the Reformed APC, alleging that he (Nkire) has been given the mandate to wage a dangerous campaign against the party across the entire South east zone in the forthcoming elections.

Chief Sam Nkire, the leader of Abia APC caucus, before his resignation from the party, was a member of the Nwamkpa-led faction.

On Monday, the factional Abia APC, in a statement signed by the state publicity secretary, Mike Ozoemena and made available to DAILY POST in Umuahia, the Abia state capital, said it attention has been drawn to reports that the Nkire has joined R-APC.

“According to the reports, he has also been appointed the National Vice Chairman (East) of the party, which means he has been given the mandate to wage a campaign against our party across the entire area in the forthcoming general election”, it read.

“We want to place on record, that before now the same Nkire had been parading himself as not only a member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the party but also its leader in the state.

“For a man who has the support of the likes of Dr. Orji Kalu, Comrade Chris Akomas, to have made such a U-turn in his political journey speaks volumes about his mission and that of his supporters.

“His action has not only vindicated our position that the faction is being sponsored by the state government and is also bent on destabilizing the party.

“We therefore urge our members to remain resolute in their loyalty to the leadership of Dr. Emmanuel Ndukwe, who as far as the law is concerned is the authentic chairman of the party in the state.”

In his reaction, Nkire, the denied the allegation that he was mandated to destabilize APC in the eastern region.

He told DAILY POST, in a phone interview, on Monday, that “There is nothing like that, I am fighting for justice. I worked for APC. Many of us worked for the enthronement of APC in the country in 2015”

“Many of us, have not been compensated for ensuring the success of the party in the last general election. I feel unjustly treated. Nobody mandated me to wage war against APC in south”.
