The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has adjourned sitting for a later time in a case involving former Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro and three others, owing to the absence of counsels to the 2nd and 4th Defendants, Chris Uche (SAN) and Sunday Ameh (SAN) respectively.

Today had been fixed for continuation of cross-examination of former Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. David Paradang who is standing as Principal Witness (PW1) to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in the case.

When the matter was mentioned this morning, the lawyer standing in for 2nd Defendant, James Odiba Esq moved an oral application “that the court do stand down the proceedings till a later hour” as the lead Counsel, Chris Uche (SAN) who was billed to undertake the cross examination has been held up in a case currently going on at the Supreme Court.

Aligning with the application for a stand down, the lawyer standing in for the 4th Defendant, Mr. R. O. Adakole also said his senior sage, Sunday Ameh (SAN) was also held up in a similar manner and urged the court to stand down for some hours.

In his ruling, the presiding judge said since the prosecution counsel did not object to the application, the matter should be adjourned till a latter hour today.

Counsel to the 1st Defendant, Paul Erokoro (SAN) had during the last court session closed his cross examination, during which he bombarded the PW1, Mr. Paradang with 98 questions in a very tensed court session.
