Nigerians see nothing wrong with corruption – ICPC

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, has lamented that instead of supporting security agencies in the fight against corruption, many Nigerians are busy accusing the anti-graft agencies of witch-hunt.

The Chairman of the ICPC, Mr. Ekpo Nta disclosed this through the Head of Department, Education, Mr. Geoffrey Anumve, when some students of Government Secondary School, Kubwa, Abuja, visited the headquarters of the commission.

Disclosing that Nigerians see nothing wrong with corrupt practices, he said the aim of all Nigerians should be to stamp out corruption instead of concerning themselves with who was being arrested and who was not.

Nta said, “You see one Nigerian stealing billions of naira and dollars that could have been used for education and the construction of bridges and the irony of it is that many Nigerians do not see anything bad in it. They justify it.

“At times, they say it is one-sided; why are you not touching this person? But we ask this question: We have so many armed robbers and kidnappers out there. Have we arrested all the robbers at the same time? It is only when one is caught that he is arrested and that is what is happening in this situation.”

The ICPC boss, therefore, urged the pupils to shun corruption in every possible way.
