1. One of the abducted Chibok girls has again been released by the Boko Haram sect.
The girl, who was one of the female students abducted from Chibok, Borno State in 2014 was rescued by troops in Pulka, Gwoza area by the soldiers.
2. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has finally released Reuben Abati, former spokesman to the immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan.
Abati was picked up last week for allegedly benefiting from funds misappropriated by the Office of the former National Security Adviser, ONSA. The financial crimes watchdog had earlier granted him bail after asking him to drop his International Passport and produce a surety of not below level 16 in the Civil Service as part of the conditions for his release.
3. Miss Anambra 2015, Chidinma Okeke, has been declared missing by her family, amid the controversies trailing their daughter’s leaked lesbian tape. Chidinma’s father, Sir Jeremiah Okeke said the family has not seen their daughter for days now, a development that has generated serious concerns among the family members.
4. The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani has inaugurated the Board and management of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
According to the Minister, the position of the government is to guarantee accountability, transparency, equity and to make the citizens feel the impact of governance, adding that the challenges of Niger Delta people were too crucial to be treated with levity.
5. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Friday said the first 200,000 out of the Federal Government’s 500,000 Volunteer Job Programme will begin in about two weeks’ time.
6. Niger Delta militants have distaned themselves from the meeting elders from the oil-rich region had with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja, last Tuesday.
Apart from distancing themselves from the meeting, they warned the Federal Government not to rejoice yet over the recent rise in oil production in the country, threatening that a series of attacks await oil facilities in the region in the days ahead.
The militants also asked the Federal Government to drop the charges against Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, and other leaders from the region.
7. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has frozen a bank account belonging to Mrs. Bola Shagaya, a business woman.
Shagaya, who is founder and Chief Executive Officer of Bolmus Group International was said to have made suspicious payments into bank accounts belonging to Patience, who has been under EFCC investigation for about six months.
8. The family of 14-year-old Ese Oruru has concluded plans to return the teenager back to school. The teenager is expected to resume her education as a first-year Senior Secondary School pupil in Delta State.
9. The All Progressives Congress, APC, National Legal Adviser Dr. Muiz Banire, on Saturday debunked the claims in some quarters that he bribed a Federal High Court judge, Justice Terseer Fishim.
The APC Legal Adviser claimed that the said sum he gave Fishim was not a bribe but a gift towards the burial of the judge’s mother back in 2013.
10. Troops of 27 Task Force Brigade, Nigerian Army have carried out clearance operations on suspected Boko Haram terrorists’ hideouts at Ajigin, Golgore, Njibulla, Doksa 1, 2 and 3 villages located at southern parts of Borno State.
During the operation, they neutralized 37 Boko Haram terrorists at Ajigin and recovered 3 AK-47 rifles.
