1. The death has been announced of Eugene Anenih, the son of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Tony Anenih.
He slumped and died at a Lagos club on Saturday while playing table tennis.
2. The Chairman, Chibok Community in Abuja, Hosea Tsambido, has stated that the Federal Government of Nigeria has invited parents of the recently freed Chibok girls to meet with their daughters on Friday.
Tsambido said many of the parents have identified their children through the photos circulated earlier.
3. No fewer than 5,000 members of the All Progressive Congress have announced their defection to the People Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Enugu West Senatorial District.
The mass exodus hit the APC the same day Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi announced that Local Government elections will hold before the end of the year in the state.
4. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has dared those accusing him of corruption to expose him or any of his appointees by blowing the whistle.
Ortom stated that his duty as governor was to execute God’s will, and urged the people to feel free to counsel and criticise his government.
5. The presidency has rubbished the report in some sections of the media that President Muhammadu Buhari is dead.
The Senior Special Assistant to the president on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu on Sunday insisted that nothing unpleasant has happened to his principal, describing the stories as “baseless rumour”, urging Nigerians to disregard them.
6. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has allegedly discovered a hotel being built by Governor Yari of Zamfara State, with $3million from the London-Paris Club loan refund.
Officials of the anti-graft agency claimed that Yari, who is the chairman of the Governor’s Forum, illegally diverted N19billion reportedly meant for “consultants” from the Paris club loan refund.
7. Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has stated he has no intention of becoming the President of the Republic of Biafra when it comes into fruition.
Kanu slammed some South East governors and some other political office holders’ over their silence on the struggle for Biafra. This, he attributed to fear of losing their positions and political relevance in Nigeria.
8. The Cross River State Chapter of the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has strongly warned the Nigerian security agencies against unnecessary use of force in arresting or killing of its members during the 2017 Biafra Independence Day scheduled for May 30.
Leader of the pro-Biafra group in the state, Samuel Okah, who issued the warning while addressing members in Ikom when the organization commenced activities for the annual celebration, said MASSOB will engage in peaceful rally across streets in the state.
9. In sports, Hull City has been relegated from the Premier League, after a 4-0 loss to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The Tigers, as the club is known has returned to the Championship, after suffering their 15th away defeat this season.
10. On the foreign scene, Hamza, a son of Osama bin Laden is reportedly seeking to avenge his father’s death and is poised to become the new leader of terrorists group, Al Qaeda.
Personal letters discovered during the raid that killed bin Laden show that Hamza is set on avenging his father’s death.
