1. An Appeal court sitting in Yola, Adamawa State, yesterday, acquitted former Adamawa governor, Bala Ngilari.

The Appeal Court set aside the ruling of the ‎state High Court which had earlier sentenced Ngilari to five years imprisonment.

2. Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday presented a virement proposal of N135.6bn to the National Assembly.

According to Osinbajo, the money, which was meant to cover projects in the Ministry of Works, Power, Housing would also affect 15 Ministries and agencies.

3. The Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday ordered seven commercial banks to temporarily remit a total of $793.2m allegedly hidden by them in contravention of the Federal Government’s Treasury Single Account policy.

Justice Chuka Obiozor ordered the seven banks to remit the various amounts allegedly being kept illegally in their custody to the designated Federal Government’s asset recovery dollars account domiciled with the Central Bank of Nigeria.

4. The incorporated trustees of a civil society group, Kingdom Human Rights Foundation International has filed a suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja asking for an order compelling the Federal Executive Council to declare ailing President Muhammadu Buhari as unfit to continue to hold office.

The suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/671/2017, was filed on Thursday. Joined as respondents to the suit are the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, the Executive Council of the Federation (otherwise known as the Federal Executive Council), the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN), and the National Assembly.

5. The Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, has ordered the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council to make the Christian Religious Knowledge and the Islamic Religious Knowledge distinctive subjects in the basic education curriculum. Adamu said the directive to separate the subjects became imperative in view of the various complaints by Nigerians, especially the Christian Association of Nigeria.

6. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has sealed a mansion allegedly belonging to a former Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Niger Delta Development Commission, Henry Ogiri.

The anti-graft agency said in a Facebook post that the house, which is located at 28, New Heaven Estate, New GRA, Port Harcourt, was seized as part of investigation into the alleged N3bn scam involving George Turnah, a godson to former President Goodluck Jonathan.

7. Ace lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria-designate, Festus Keyamo, has said former President Goodluck Jonathan has some questions to answer about some of the monies ex-Petroleum Minister, Dieziani Alison-Madueke allegedly stole from the country.

Keyamo in a series of tweets on Thursday, called for the “dismantling of the warped system at the NNPC”, if such looting must be checked.

8. Former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido has called on the aggrieved PDP members ‎who dumped the party to immediately return as the party had bounced back strongly.

According to him, arrangement has gone far to reconcile all aggrieved PDP Governors, Ministers, Senators, members of House of representatives and others who dumped the party due to internal crisis that tore the party apart.

9. Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, on Thursday dissolved the State executive council.

The governor in a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Malam Abubakar Al-Sadique said only the Special Adviser Security, Brig-General Ladan Yusuf was retained.

10. Justice Phoebe Ayua of the Federal High Court, Lokoja has sentenced Mallam Abubakar Ibrahim to 12 years in prison for dealing illegally in petroleum products.

Justice Ayua, who delivered the judgment, also ordered that 33,000 litres of crude oil and truck with registration number XA 900 XT be forfeited to the Federal Government.
