One of Nigeria’s best rappers, MI, is presently down with a common chronic inflammatory disease of the airways known as Asthma.
The rapper, whose real name is Jude Abaga went on a micro-blogging site, Twitter to disclose this news.
His tweet this morning read: “Meanwhile I’ve been bed ridden for the last few days… My asthma is acting up… Shout out to pepper soup and tea
“I have asthma, hence, i can’t smoke. Sorry, lemme be positive. The devil has asthma hence i can’t smoke.”
Asthma is the common chronic inflammatory disease of the airways characterised by variable and recurring symptoms, reversible airflow obstruction, and bronchospasm.
It is thought to be caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors.
Treatment of acute symptoms is usually with an inhaled short-acting beta-2 agonist (such as salbutamol).
Symptoms can be prevented by avoiding triggers, such as allergens and irritants, and by inhaling corticosteroids.
In 2009, asthma caused 250,000 deaths globally.
