1. The newly-appointed Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, on Tuesday warned the current administration led by Muhammadu Buahri against disappointing Nigerians.
According to him, since they freely gave the administration their mandate having campaigned to them, government officials must ensure they fulfilled their promises.
2. Oyo State House of Assembly on Tuesday suspended its plenary in honour of one of its ex-members, Hon. Waliu Adekunle Ganiyu.
Ganiyu fondly known as “Ere” died Monday after a brief illness.
3. President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday hinted on the possibility of appointing more ministers into his cabinet.
Buhari, while delivering his speech at the National Executive of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abuja, disclosed that he would also make board appointments, in accordance with demand by his party members.
4. Former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, yesterday met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo behind closed door in his hill-top residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State over his 2019 presidential ambition.
In a terse statement by Mansur Ahmed, the social media aide to Lamido, he said the meeting was part of consultation with relevant stakeholders and key political actors in Nigeria across the length and breadth of this Nation.
5. The Pan Yoruba Socio-Political group, Afenifere, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of being partial in his administration’s anti-corruption war.
The Yoruba group challenged the President to prove the sincerity of its anti corruption crusade by prosecuting the former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina and other accomplices.
6. Some Governors currently serving on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to seek re-election for a second term in office.
Speaking in separate interviews with reporters before the commencement of the National Executive Committee meeting of the party in Abuja, the governors said that the belief that President Buhari’s integrity, couple with his performance since 2015 remain unbeatable.
7. Second republic Vice-President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, has reportedly collapsed and has been admitted at the Intensive Care Unit of Memfys Hospital for Neurosurgery in Trans-Ekulu, Enugu State.
It was gathered that Ekwueme collapsed around 2am last Saturday, at his residence in Independence Layout, Enugu barely 10 days (October 10) after he celebrated his 85th birthday.
8. Immediate past president, Goodluck has revealed why he wants to be excused from appearing as a witness in defence of a former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh.
The former President in his motion challenging the subpoena issued on him, stated that with “with several attempts by some persons in the current dispensation, to harass, intimidate and rubbish” his reputation and that of his wife, the witness summon issued on him upon Metuh’s request was a ploy to drag his name in the mud.
9. The Ondo State House of Assembly on Tuesday called on Governor Rotimi Akeredolu not to implement the recommendations of the Ondo State 2017 Education Summit, particularly the introduction of tuition fees.
At the plenary session of the Assembly on Tuesday, the House reviewed the recommendations of the summit, disagreeing with some of them.
10. The World Igbo Youth Congress (WIYC), a South-East-based pan-Igbo group, has alleged that Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu does not deserve a second tenure in office.
WIYC said the Governor has performed poorly inn every indices.
