1. Former minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has claimed that former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar was the All Progressive Congress, APC’s, greatest fear ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Fani Kayode revealed that hate comments from APC governors: Nasir El Rufai and Bello Masari showed that they were deeply hurt by Atiku’s exit.

2. The Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, has explained why Nigeria is doomed and cannot develop now.

Aregbesola said the country was far from development because its economy was built on a very weak production arrangement.

3. The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has reacted to the call for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari.Responding to the PDP’s statement, the National Chairman of the APC, chief John Odigie-Oyegun said the PDP lacked the morality to demand Buhari’s resignation.

4. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State on Tuesday described the All Progressives Congress, APC, led Federal Government as an abysmal failure.

The party said Nigerians were waiting to vote out the APC and its troubles in 2019 “because they don’t have the capacity and capabilities to run the affairs of the country.”

5. Snake bite, hunger and malaria have killed thirteen of the 276 Chibok schoolgirls in Boko Haram custody.

Report says of the 276 kidnapped schoolgirls, 163 are now free; while 57 fled in the early days after their abduction, three more escaped later, and a Swiss-coached mediation secured 103.

6. The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Adewale Martins has said owing to failure in governance and good leadership, Nigerians have become like sheep without shepherd.

He also declared that the country has lost sense of direction, stressing that there was no doubt that Nigeria was in need of restoration.

7. A policeman and five other persons were killed in an inter-communal conflict between the villages of Uyangha and Ojor on Christmas Day in Cross River State.

Report from the area, located 50 kilometres away from Calabar, said trouble had been brewing between the two neighbouring communities for some days.

8. At least, seven persons were reportedly killed during the Christmas break in two separate attacks on Adim Akpa and Utonkon communities in Otukpo and Ado Local Government areas of Benue State. It was gathered that gunmen stormed the village on motorbikes in the evening of Saturday, shooting sporadically, leaving two people dead while some others sustained injuries, after which they fled the scene.

9. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has urged the Federal High Court in Lagos to refuse an application by four companies praying to reverse their guilty plea to laundering $15,591,700.

In its counter-affidavit deposed to by an investigating officer Musbhau Yahaya, the commission said the application was an abuse of court process, and that the judge cannot be asked to overrule himself.

10. The Federal Government has described as unnecessary, uninformed and highly-partisan the criticism of the recently approved $1bn by the Nigeria Governors Forum for the military to tackle the country’s security challenges.

It noted that the criticism was uninformed and unnecessary because everyone knew the military’s role in combating the numerous security crises, including insurgency, facing the country.
