1. Members of the Biafra Zionists Federation, BZF, have raised fresh alarm over the whereabouts of their leader, Barr. Benjamin Onwuka.
The Deputy Leader of the group, Mazi Ambrose Ugwu told newsmen on Tuesday that those arrested with Onwuka were later freed late Monday evening by the Department of State Services but Onwuka’s whereabouts still remained unknown.
2. Fresh facts have emerged on why the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, was absent when the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caucus meeting.
Dogara failed to show up because he was in Bauchi for a senatorial by-election, the leader of the House of Representatives and chairman of the APC Caucus, Femi Gbajabiamila, has claimed.
3. Nigerian Government has confirmed that there are plans to increase the allowance of serving members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC.
Minster of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige disclosed that the much awaited new minimum wage will also be enjoyed by members of the NYSC.
4. Eleven persons have lost their lives, while 16 others sustained various degrees of injuries in an auto crash involving a bus, Toyota Corolla and a Hilux van along Ibeto/Kontagora Road in Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger State.
Malam Abdullahi Ibrahim, Federal Road Safety Corps Unit Commander in Charge of Kontagora, said that 27 people were involved in the accident.
5. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has stated that he is not a member of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Obasanjo outlined the problems with the two major political parties, the PDP and the APC as image, discipline, commitment and leadership deficit.
6. A former aspirant for the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Publisher of an Abuja-based celebrity magazine, ‘Democracy Confidential,’ Chief Chyna Iwuanyanwu, is dead.
Reports said Iwuanyanwu, a former journalist with Radio Nigeria and Champion Newspaper, died in Abuja after a brief illness
7. The Presidency has dismissed insinuation by the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal that President Muhammadu Buhari was “too old” to govern Nigeria for another term.
Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu said that the 800 metres trek embarked upon by Buhari from the Eid ground to his private residence in Daura, Katsina State was an indication of his fitness to seek re-election in 2019.
8. The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has warned Nigerians against voting into power those who will milk the nation dry.
Mohammed, who made the appeal on Tuesday in a Sallah message delivered at a media briefing in his home town, Oro, near Ilorin in Kwara State, enjoined Nigerians to be vigilant and not yield the space to naysayers, adding that the gains made by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration in the past three years must be preserved.
9. The Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), in Oyo state, Alhaji Taofeek Oyerinde is dead.
The union consequently appointed Vice Chairman of the union in Oyo State, Alhaji Abideen Olajide as the Acting Chairman.
10. Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, (SERAP) has demanded that the Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, rebuilds the demolished building of Fresh FM owned by popular juju musician, Yinka Ayefele, or face national and international legal actions.
SERAP in an open letter by its deputy director, Timothy Adewale on Tuesday, requested Governor Ajimobi to immediately halt all further eviction and demolition of Fresh FM building and to show full respect for the safety and dignity of residents and owner of Fresh FM.
