1. The House of Representatives on Tuesday passed the motion to investigate the crisis at the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS.

The resolution came following a motion of urgent national importance moved by a member from Bayelsa State, Mr. Diri Douye.

2. Former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, has called on the standard bearers of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, President Muhammadu Buhari, and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and presidential candidates of other parties to accept the result of the 2019 presidential poll in good faith.

The former military leader, who spoke with reporters after the opening of an exhibition in honour of an Emeritus Professor of Medicine, Oladipo Akinkugbe, held at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, yesterday, advised the political gladiators to imbibe the spirit which made former President Goodluck Jonathan to concede defeat after the 2015 presidential poll to Buhari.

3. The Federal Government on Tuesday said heavy fines imposed on MTN were because the company took stipulated regulations for granted.

Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed at the 24th Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja, said MTN provided what the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) earlier requested after the firm and some affected Deposit Money Banks were asked to refund about $8.1bn.

4. The Ogun State Government on Tuesday evening debunked the rumoured death of Ernest Shonekan, former Head of Interim National Government of Nigeria.

Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa said the former Head of Interim National Government of Nigeria was hale and hearty and not dead as being speculated.

5. The Governor Akinwunmi Ambode-led Lagos State Government has directed the Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria (AWAM), otherwise known as PSP operators, to resume door-to-door evacuation of waste.

The government gave the directive during a meeting with the waste managers on Tuesday in Lagos.

6. Gov. David Umahi of Ebonyi State on Tuesday, empowered pastors under his divine mandate campaign platform and members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state, with N500 million.

The divine mandate pastors received N250million, with each of the over 2, 500 members, receiving N100, 000 each while the five blocs of CAN shared N250 million.

7. The Chief of Army staff Gen. Tukur Buratai has launched Crocodile smile 3 in Ikang in Bakassi local government area of Cross River State.

Gen Buratai who was represented by the GOC commanding the 82 division Maj. Gen. Emmanuel Kabuk said the exercise was carefully crafted by the military headquarters to reflect the peculiarities of the region as well prepare a conducive environment in the region.

8. Nigerian Pensioners under the auspices of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) have threatened action over the delay in their payment.

The pensioners also vowed to shut down the operation of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) if the government failed to pay the balance of their 33 percent pension increase within 21 days.

9. The Presidency has spoken on the recent broadcast by the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu that his return to Nigeria would be disastrous.

Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, in a statement on Tuesday asked Nigerians to ignore Kanu as his threat to bring hell to Nigeria was unrealistic.

10. The Benue State Government has reacted to a report that over N33bn funds belonging to local government areas in the state were stolen in three years.

The state described the report as malicious, misleading and fallacious.
