1. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, have approached the Supreme Court with 66 reasons President Muhammadu Buhari should be sacked. They want the Court to set aside the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on the ground that the judgment occasioned a miscarriage of justice.
2. The planned early passage of the 2020 budget by the National Assembly is in jeopardy as the Senate has complained of not receiving the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) from President Muhammadu Buhari.
3. The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has hinted that the possibility of interest rate cut now hinges on the corresponding fall in inflation rate to nine per cent or below. He said this must happen before the apex bank would consider cutting its key rate. Inflation rate is currently at 11.02 per cent.
4. The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola has disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari inherited debts worth about N1 trillion from the federal roads constructed by various State Governments under the past administration.
5. President Muhammadu Buhari has described the Process and Industrial Development controversial $9.6bn judgment it obtained from a London court against Nigeria as a scam. Buhari said Nigeria would not tolerate attempts by persons and organisations he called international criminals to defraud the country.
6. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Board of Trustee, BoT said it is banking on ex-President Goodluck Jonathan; Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and former Senate President Bukola Saraki to solidify and position the party to recapture power at the federal level in 2023.
7. Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, has insisted that the Federal High Court, Abuja should invite former President Goodluck Jonathan to give evidence in his ongoing trial.
8. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate redeployment of two Ministers of State. Festus Keyamo, Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs has been moved to Ministry of Labour and Employment as Minister of State while Senator Tayo Alasoadura is to move to Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs as Minister of State. The redeployment took effect from Tuesday 24th September, 2019.
9. The Senate said that it will not interfere in the alleged face-off between President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. The legislative chamber said it was not aware that any role assigned to the Vice President had been withdrawn by the President.
10. Labour leaders and Federal Government officials will meet between tomorrow and Friday to unlock the stalemate over the payment of the N30,000 minimum wage. Minister of Labour and Employment Chris Ngige said the government had commenced payment of the new wage from Levels 1 to 6 workers. But Labour leaders accused the government of insincerity, describing the payment of the new wage to junior workers as divide and rule tactics.
