1. Some demands made Tuesday afternoon to the Presidential Election Tribunal by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, have just emerged.
A source within the party said Atiku filed for access to all INEC materials used in conduct of the Presidential election before the tribunal.
2. The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has released its West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, WASSCE, results for private candidates in the 2019 January/February Examination.
Olu Adenipekun, Head, Nigeria National Office of WAEC, announced that 39, 557 candidates obtained credits and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics in the last West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates in the country.
3. The Deputy Director-General (Admin) of the Atiku Campaign Organization, Barr. Tanimu Turaki SAN, has been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
4. Barely four days to the governorship elections, the All Progressives Congress, APC, has no governorship candidate in Enugu State, DAILY POST authoritatively reports.
A check on the INEC final list as published in its website showed that Enugu APC had no candidate.
5. Ahead Saturday’s gubernatorial election, Cross River State governor, Professor Ben Ayade’s support base received a boost with his endorsement Tuesday by the leaderships of Social Democratic Party, SDP and Labour Party, LP in the state.
The two parties said their adoption of the governor was predicated on his record in office in the last three and a half years.
6. The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Imo, Prof. Francis Ezeonu on Tuesday expressed regrets at the challenges and irregularities witnessed at the Feb. 23 Presidential and National Assembly elections in Imo.
Ezeonu, who made his view known at the Imo INEC Interactive meeting with Stakeholders in Owerri, noted that the meeting afforded the commission an opportunity to X-Ray what happened during the Feb. 23 election in the state.
7. The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has condemned remark by the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus that election may not hold in 2023.
The former Governor of Rivers State described Secondus’s claim as misplaced.
8. The Director General of President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Council and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has described the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike’s ambition to have a re-election into the Brick House in Rivers State come Saturday 9th March, 2019 as one associated with brutality and killings.
He stated that right from the commencement of the Wike Administration, the State had continuously witnessed unrest and wanton killings.
9. President Muhammadu Buhari has described former President Olusegun Obasanjo as “a passionate and great patriot who deserves accolades for his immeasurable contributions to our democracy and national unity.
In a statement to mark Obasanjo’s 82nd birthday anniversary, President Buhari acknowledged efforts in nation building.
10. A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dele Belgore, yesterday told a Federal High in Lagos that he thought the N450 million given to him in 2015 was sent from the Peoples Democratic Party 2015 Presidential Campaign Headquarters in Abuja and not part of $115 million doled out by former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.
Belgore said this while being led in evidence by his counsel, Ebun Shofunde (SAN), at his resumed trial over N450 million money laundering charge preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
