1. Unknown gunmen, numbering four, Tuesday night killed former Anambra state chairman of Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), Chief Frank-Anthony Igboka at Oye Nimo market.
The gunmen, who were said to have trailed Igboka in a Hillux truck, accosted the former lawmaker while he was driving himself through the community’s market square, riddling his head and chest with bullets before driving off.
2. The Canadian Embassy in Nigeria has fired back at Ovation International publisher, Dele Momodu, over an information he shared on Twitter, concerning allowing Nigerian immigrants into the country.
It denied reports that the country’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, asked President Muhammadu Buhari to allow one million Nigerians enter Canada, under a new employment and migration programme.
3. Former vice president and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has insisted the result from the server of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed he defeated President Muhammadu Buhari.
In his submission to the presidential election tribunal, the former vice president gave the “unique MAC address and Microsoft product ID of the INEC server” from where the results were obtained.
4. Gov. David Umahi of Ebonyi State has appealed to the Inspector General of Police (I-G) Mohammed Adamu to suspend the implementation of operation ‘Puff Adder’ security exercise in the state.
Umahi, who made the appeal on Tuesday when the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of zone 6, Musa Kimo paid him a courtesy call, noted that the warring communities in Ikwo and Abakaliki Local Government Area (LGA) were peaceful presently.
5. The police in Lagos State have arrested 10 trade union leaders of the Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu over alleged attempted murder.
Report had it that the LASPOTECH unionists were arrested for molesting JAMB examiners conducting UTME on the campus.
6. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested one Babagana Abba Dalori for allegedly collecting N7billion from 20,700 potential investors.
Dalori, 35, a 2010 graduate of Electrical/Electronics, University of Maiduguri and the Managing Director, Galaxy Transportation and Construction Services Limited. allegedly lured unsuspecting investors with Returns on Investment (RoI) as high as 135% and, in some cases, 200%.
7. The Federal Government has assured the international community that it is working with its Swiss partners and others, on daily basis, to track and secure the release of remaining abducted Chibok girls still in captivity.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who disclosed this at a briefing at the Department of African Studies, Georgetown University, Washington DC, said that government had never for one day forgotten or closed the case of the abducted girls.
8. The Nigerian Navy (NN) has declared four persons wanted for alleged complicity in theft of petroleum products in Nigeria’s maritime environment.
Navy Spokesman, Commodore Suleman Dahun, listed the suspects as Enikanologbon Happy, Arumona Daniel, Egbujie Chinonso and Ogori Kenneth.
9. The House of Representatives, on Tuesday, rejected the Bill for an Act to establish the Chartered Institute of Forensic and investigative auditors of Nigeria for effective regulation and registration of members.
The bill, which passed first reading, was rejected by the House for the conflicting role with the Chartered Institute of Forensic and Investigative Auditors of Nigeria with similar professional body such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, (ICAN).
10. The Delta State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, just as it recovered fire arms from them.
The Acting Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Orisewejie Chuks, gave the names of the four suspected IPOB members to include, Nwafor Ifeanyi (33years), Ifeanyi Nwafor, Arinze Orji (21) and one Ekene Otakpo, who sustained gun injuries and presently receiving treatment at FMC, Asaba.
