1. Striking Nigerian health workers have warned the Federal Government against withholding their salaries as such could worsen the situation. President of the Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy, Taiwo Adewumi, has warned the Federal Government gave the warning, saying there were plans to frustrate the strike though no-work- no pay approach.
2. Following an ongoing disagreement between the two factions of Ohaneze Ndigbo, an explosion reportedly rocked their office located at number 7 Parks Avenue, GRA, Enugu on Monday. Report says the motive of the bomber is yet to be established even as the entire building was affected by the blast.
3. President Goodluck Jonathan, Senator David Mark; and a former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ahmadu Ali, had in Lafia on Monday taken on the immediate past Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, for dumping the PDP for the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA. They said Maku’s action amounts to anti-party activity, describing him as an ingrate and a liar.
4. Pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere on Monday in Akure endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan, saying he must be returned to office come May 29. The endorsement was announced at the home of its leader, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, in the presence of President Jonathan and his entourage who paid a special visit.
5. The Director of Media and Publicity of President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has though his Media aide, Mr. Sufuyan Ojeifo, denied tampering with the content of an alleged email he got from one Sadiq of Cambridge University, saying he never sent any mail to the school in the first place.
6. The APC governorship candidate in Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, yesterday said should the presidential candidate of the APC, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) win the coming elections, he would inherit a badly shaped economy from President Jonathan.
7. Troops in Maiduguri, Borno State, mistook the state Governor, Kashim Shettima for an enemy on Tuesday when they opened fire on his convoy as it approached a military garrison, near the airport. The incident happened when Shettima was on his way to visit some injured soldiers.
8. The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the February 14 presidential election, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Tuesday said the various attacks on his person by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party leaders was expected, affirming that despite the attacks, Nigerians cannot afford another four years under President Jonathan. He spoke while receiving a delegation of members of the Peoples Democratic Movement in his office.
9. The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing, has said it was disappointed with President Goodluck Jonathan and all Igbos working with him, accusing them of failing to fulfil the numerous promises made to the Igbo nation during the 2011 elections campaign. The group said despite the massive support by Igbos during the elections, Jonathan unfortunately disappointed them at the end.
10. Going by the daily broadcast of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, the country is currently losing 2,042.2 megawatts of electricity resulting from shortage in gas supply and poor water management. Detailed report shows that 411 G2 and G4 units of the Shiroro hydro power plant are currently losing 300MW, while shortage in gas supply is responsible for the loss of 1,742.2MW.
