Good morning! Here are 10 things you need to know this morning:

1. President Jonathan on Tuesday sacked the Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba and replaced him with Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase who is expected to take over from Abba immediately on acting capacity.

2. The political squabble between Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko and his Deputy, Alhaji Ali Olanusi yesterday took a new dimension as the ‎the Ondo State Assembly served the Deputy Governor, impeachment notice over alleged gross misconduct.

3. Report says a suicide bomber on Monday injured about 8 people in Potiskum town of Yobe state. It was reported that while two of the eight victims were in critical state, the others were responding fine to treatment.

4. A local campaign coordinator of the Kaduna State Governor-elect, Nasir El-Rufai was on Tuesday killed by suspected assassins. The news of his assassination was confirmed by El-Rufai’s media aide, Samuel Aruwan.

5. The Senate has announced that the late Senator Uche Chukwumereije will be buried on May 22 in his country home of Ngodo Isuoche, in Abia State. This announcement was officially made by the Senate President, David Mark who said the late senator would be given a heroic burial.

6. After months of controversy and speculation over his future in the Super Eagles, Coach Stephen Keshi has finally signed a fresh two-year-contract with the Nigeria Football Federation,NFF, as the official handler of the Super Eagles.

7. Protests against xenophobic attacks in South Africa continued yesterday as Unilag students and another group in Enugu identified as Youth Action for Success, YAS, took over the streets in protest of attacks on Nigerians and other Africans who are resident in South Africa. The protesters were demanding that the attacks on Nigerians and other Africans be stopped forthwith.

8. The All Progressives Congress, APC, Elders’ Forum in Ekiti State has boasted that the state governor, Ayodele Fayose, can in no way escape the impeachment process already set in motion by 19 members of the state House of Assembly. The forum stated this through the Publicity Secretary of Ekiti APC Elders Forum, Dr. Bayo Orire.

9. Rivers State chapter of the Labour Party, LP, has suspended its governorship candidate in the just concluded election in the State, Tonye Princewill over alleged anti-party activities.

10. In a dialogue session with the Nigerian Civil Society Situation Room in Abuja, INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega said it was a joyful thing that the national election did not go into a re-run as such would have resulted into violence.
